Aaaaaaand, as the blog title above indicates subtly, we are down to the wire. Yes, ladies and gentlemen (are there really multiple ladies and gentlemen who actually read this thing?) we are down to one full day until we depart for paradise. I am working on last-minute packing and will surely be going to Target tomorrow for something or another on the Oops-I-Forgot-to-Buy-That-for-the-Trip list.
I am doing the unthinkable. Mhmm. I am stuffing my wedding dress, underskirt, and veil into a garment bag. Yeah, the kind that folds in half! Their airline said that they'd stow the goods in a regular-sized wedding-dress bag (the non-wrinkling kind) in the captain's closet if they had room. If. And if there wasn't room, we would have to put the stuff in an overhead bin but there would be no guarantee that other passengers wouldn't stuff their bags in with it. That's a big "if" and those compartments are not numerous. So, I stuffed the whole shebang a garment bag (for those of you gasping, it is tissue taffeta, so it won't wrinkle) and hope for the best. Did I mention my shoes and Josh's suit are in there too? :) It's a handy little garment bag.
I am also dabbling here and there in the vow-writing department. So far, I've got the basic outline down, but beyond that I am drawing a blank. Of course I know what I want to say (there is a lot) but I don't know how to be poetic (without being cheesy or humorous) and how to be light (and not make myself too emotional) but still convey the importance that I place on our marriage. All that without going above a minute or so, without rhyming or sounding lyrical. Definitely a work-in-progress. And it's due on Monday, 4:00pm sharp. For those of you who know me, I'm not a last-minute person at all and I try to plan just about everything. This means lists, lists, and more lists. On my list for Thursday is to clean house, wrap Christmas gifts, and relax. I am not nervous about the getting married part of this whole thing. I'm nervous about the traveling part! Once we get there, it will be smooth sailing, mon (I hope!).
Tonight Josh gave me my first prime lens!! It is an early Christmas gift! It is a Canon EF 50mm f 1.8 II and even though it doesn't zoom, it is pretty close to a macro (up close) lens for portrait purposes and I can't wait to play with it in the daylight tomorrow!
